Ingredients
For the beef filling
-
500 g ground beef
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 tbsp cooking oil
-
1 tsp paprika
-
½ tsp cumin powder
-
½ tsp chilli powder (adjust to taste)
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
Salt to taste
-
2 tbsp water, if needed
For the wraps
-
4 large flour tortillas
-
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
-
½ cup grated cheddar cheese
-
2 tbsp butter or oil, for toasting
For the creamy sauce
-
3 tbsp mayonnaise
-
1 tbsp ketchup
-
1 small garlic clove, minced (optional)
-
½ tsp lemon juice
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the ground beef
-
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat.
-
Add the chopped onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
-
Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
-
Add the ground beef and break it apart with a spoon.
-
Cook until browned and fully cooked through, with no pink remaining.
Step 2: Season the beef
-
Add paprika, cumin, chilli powder, black pepper, and salt.
-
Mix well and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
-
Add a little water if the beef is too dry. Let excess liquid evaporate so the wraps don’t become soggy.
Step 3: Prepare the sauce
Mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, minced garlic, and lemon juice in a small bowl until smooth.
Step 4: Assemble the wraps
-
Lay the tortillas flat.
-
Spread a thin layer of sauce over each tortilla.
-
Add a generous portion of cooked ground beef.
-
Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the beef.
-
Fold in the sides and roll each tortilla tightly.
Step 5: Toast until crispy
-
Heat a little butter or oil in a non-stick pan over medium-low heat.
-
Place each wrap seam-side down.
-
Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
-
Turn gently and cook until the cheese melts completely.
Tips for the best cheesy wraps
-
For extra cheese: Add another handful of mozzarella before folding.
-
For a spicy kick: Add chopped green chillies or hot sauce to the beef.
-
For a creamy filling: Mix 2 tablespoons of cream cheese into the cooked beef.
-
For a fast-food flavour: Add pickles and a little burger sauce.
-
For extra crispiness: Don’t overfill the tortillas, and cook over medium-low heat so the cheese melts before the outside burns.
Serve immediately with garlic mayo, French fries, or coleslaw.
Enjoy your homemade cheesy beef wraps!
